I’ve never found a close twin for any of my cars, but I totally would park next to one. I will intentionally park next to close automotive relatives though. Sometimes you can get a pretty good cluster of Jeeps going.

Frankly, it’s a Jalop duty. A badge of your/our car dorkness. I have yet to have the opportunity in my Speed3. Someone else did though. Came out of the gym and walked up to the wrong car only to realize the paint was too clean to be mine LOL

Mines on the right. Funny thing is this is one of the reasons I got rid of this car. I couldn’t go more than a week with out seeing one of the three twins my car had, in my smal town. Five if you count the two EXs that didn’t have spoilers.

I did that at the grocery. Someone else in a white Abarth parked in “my” spot. Couldn’t figure out why the car wouldn’t unlock. Saw the owner and got excited for a discussion about the cars and she just thought I was crazy. Ah well.

I really really like to park next to other S-Classes, especially if they’re S500 or S430. I once parked nose to nose with a rare, one year only, 2006 W220 S350 at a golf course that the owner had been so bold as to put S55 AMG rims on with an AMG badge on the trunk lid.

I like to make them feel inferior...it’s one of the small joys the S600 brings for all the insane, maddening, and infuriating repairs they incur.

When driving the lifted XJ, yes. When driving the Miata, yes. When driving the WJ, no. I’m like literally the only person who cares about their WJ. Most are just driven-into-the-ground 17 year old soccer mom SUVs on their sixth owner.

As far as I can remember my mom has always waved at other drivers of whatever car she happens to be driving at the time. I think it mostly confuses people, but every once in a while someone waves back.

Speaking of which, I really don’t see WJ’s around much any more, and the ones that I do are pretty tired looking... is there a specific problem area with them, or is it a result of early 2000's Chrysler pushing crazy lease deals that meant most of them got to second owners who just didn’t care pretty quickly?

They are absolutely bizarre in the context of the lineup and I don’t think dealers ever placed orders for them, they just sold what Mercedes sent them off the lot.

Which is how you can get an S350 with Keyless go and a wood and leather steering wheel but not even have heated seats. They’re mostly made out of leftover parts from other w220s on the line at the same time. Also short wheel base.

Let’s see... I see a lot of WJ 4.0s bite the bullet early on- not sure if there is a problem specific to the WJ’s 4.0 or what. The transmission in the 4.0 version is pretty fragile, the whole HVAC system is full of bugs, the wiring from the body to the doors likes the crack and short out, the 4.7 does not do well with neglect and the factory spec 7,000 miles OCI leads to sludge buildup and engine death, the Quadradrive/Quadratrac system users a proprietary fluid only available from Mopar- in short, its really easy to ruin a WJ if you don’t know the proper care and feeding.

Thanks man. This car even had the same factory options mine did (HID’s, sunroof, traction control, and the factory upgraded stereo) so it’s probably even rarer to have seen considering there were only 1011 red three-doors made in 2003.
